Big Give Gage
Big Give Gage is a 24-hour online day of giving that will take place from midnight to midnight on September 10, 2019. The purpose of the event is to raise awareness and funds for nonprofit organizations in Gage County like the Chief Standing Bear Trail. Donors can visit www.BigGiveGage.org to make online contributions to their favorite registered nonprofit organizations or stop by Vintage Venue on September 10th to visit with several of the nonprofits participating.
This year’s project: Maintenance of the Chief Standing Bear Trail ($7,500)
Every year the Board members (HCTA) and volunteers of the trail maintain the Chief Standing Bear Trail. The maintenance includes mowing all trailheads, trimming of trees and branches that fall into the trail, keeping the growth back, and spraying the trail and parking areas of all trail heads for noxious weeds. There is also cost in the maintenance of the ATV’s that are used to haul rock and chainsaws for upkeep of the trail. All trail work is done by the volunteers of the HCTA board and other active volunteers. All funds to maintain the trail are raised by donations, purchases of trail passes and events that are held on the trail.
